Is Abraham Mutai an #EnemyOfTheStateKE?
He suddenly went missing on a Saturday afternoon, and only later would Kenyans learn that he had been arrested by CID in Mombasa and dragged to Nairobi for questioning. His crime was allegedly ‘misusing a licensed communication gadget’. However, the truth would reveal itself that he was simply being bold enough to talk about corruption in Isiolo and Mandera. Previously, he had gone back to the history books and retrieved a damning report on ivory poaching in Kenya by the New Scientist Magazine dated 22 May 1975.

Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women
By Jackline Mwanza @jackiemwanza and Irene Mutile @irenemutile

Demonstrators at the #MyDressMyChoice Protest, November 18 2014 |
"Kenyans must learn from their constitution. Violence from any public or private spheres is a violation against human rights is punishable by law."
“Let’s challenge militarism and end violence against women”, is the theme during the 2014 16 Days
of Activism campaign. In the wake of stripping incidences, Nairobi Governor
Evans Kidero wrote, “No one has a right to strip anyone in public and cause
them unnecessary embarrassment.” Whereas
Evans Kidero is entitled to his opinion, his ironic tweet reignites debate on violence
against women.

Is JULIUS OWINO An Enemy Of The State?
Many in Nairobi and beyond consider Dandora, or ‘D’, to be a place where man, birds and dogs scavenge for food for the bare fact that it hosts Kenya’s largest dumpsite. However, a gem, deep inside the informal settlement, has helped shape the music scene not only in Kenya but the greater East African region. Mau Mau Camp uses the influences of Hip Hop music to resist, contest and mobilize those that relate to the music to instigate for change.

Where are you from: Is Ali Hersi an #EnemyOfTheStateKE?
On 26th November
2013, the Society for International Development– East Africa (SID East Africa)
released a report on the extent of inequality in Kenya. Definitely, this report
was likely to put the people behind it at logger-heads with those in government
who would not want such a shameful revelation about a country that is about to
celebrate its jubilee year. However, SID stood its ground and let the cat out of
the bag. The Kenya National Bureau of
Statistics was also kind enough to help SID access data that would support the report in
a major way.

Is Katindi Sivi Njonjo an #EnemyOfTheStateKE?
The current Programmes Director at the Society for International Development (SID) in charge of programme conceptualization, coordination and management does not fall anything short of an amazing character. Perhaps you are wondering who this is. If you have heard about the recently launched damning report; Exploring Inequality in Kenya, then you should know who is behind the initiative.
